What is Trimlight?

How does your Lifetime Product Warranty work?

Trimlight provides an industry leading lifetime product warranty. This warranty covers any component of the trimlight system for the life of those components. When used properly the components in the Trimlight system should last 20-30 years. If the system is left on 24 hours a day this greatly diminishes the lifetime of the product.

How much does Trimlight cost? Do you have a minimum?

This is our most popular question! We offer multiple options, so pricing varies depending on the size, and scope of your project (i.e. linear footage, number and size of peaks, turrets, rental equipment needed etc.). Your price will depend on the difficulty and size of your home. Trimlight systems typically are between $2500-$6000 for everything our clients want. Including all expenses, you should expect between $24-32/ linear foot.

Are they HOA-approved?

Trimlight typically needs prior approval from HOA’s. Once a meeting has been established with the committee leader to show how the Trimlight system works; that it is hidden during the day, programmable for specific holidays and there are assurances that any repairs or maintenance issues will be resolved in a timely manner—95% of our installations are approved by HOAs!

Do you offer financing?

At this time we do not offer financing.

How is Trimlight installed?

Our patented channel allows us to install our lights along the trim of home or structure . We use recycled aluminum to prevent rust or corrosion and the channel is enamel-baked to prevent fading and chipping over time. This channel is color-matched to any existing trim color and is installed on the underside of the eave, behind the gutters and trim.

What can Trimlight be used for?

Trimlight can be installed on any structure, both residential and commercial, including patios and outdoor living spaces, movie theaters, parks, churches, restaurants, banks, etc. Basically, if you’re in need of additional outdoor lighting for any reason, Trimlight is the way to go.

How do they look during the day?

Trimlight’s patented channel system is designed to match the color of the trim, blending in seamlessly to hide the wires from view. They lock the lights securely in place and they are hardly noticeable during the day.

How long does Trimlight last?

Trimlight comes with a lifetime product warranty. The lifetime of Trimlight depends on how often it is being used. On average Trimlight will last between 20 – 30 years (assuming it is only used during nighttime hours). If Trimlight is constantly left on day and night, it will significantly reduce the lifetime of the lights.

Can I pair Trimlight to my home network?

With the SoHoTrimlight lighting system, you have the potential to benefit from your dedicated home network connection. The success of your pairing may be affected by external variables such as device type, firewalls, and other digital elements in play; we will do our best to ensure your installation is successful but cannot guarantee it due to these factors out of our control.

Can I program Trimlight from a computer?

SoHo Trimlight provides an innovative, app-driven experience that is only available on iPhone and Android devices. For our customers using Mac computers, the SoHo Trimlight application will work since it also operates with an app-based system.

If I move, can I have the Trimlight system moved to my new home?

Your SoHo Trimlight system is a custom-fit decorative lighting solution that’s designed to perfectly complement the exterior of your home. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to remove and reinstall this system on another property as its channel has been customized according to the square footage, color and style of your specific house.

There are different types of white in lighting, what does Trimlight have?

RGB lighting can produce brilliant and dynamic hues, though creating a perfect shade of white is tricky. For this reason, we advise viewing your lights from the street or sidewalk before attempting to make adjustments – some people may see slight hints of blue in pure white settings. If you’d like to remove any traces of blue, head into Custom Color mode on your light controls; then simply enter ‘255’ for each RGB option underneath its corresponding color heading until desired brightness/hue is achieved! Additionally, searching online provides an array of different White codes using helpful RGB resources if needed.

If one light goes out, do they all go out?

‍The answer is sometimes. If the glitch or fault occurs within the RGB components then it will only affect that light. The light may turn a different color or shut off completely. If the glitch or fault occurs within the data wire of the affected light, it may affect all the lights after it is in line. Either way, it is a quick and simple repair, reach out to your local dealer and they will swap out the affected light which will correct any issue.

What happens if a light goes out?

SoHo Trimlight comes with a lifetime product warranty. Simply reach out to SoHo Trimlight and request to have the light replaced. You may or may not be charged a labor fee depending on your location, but the faulty product will be covered under warranty.

Can I customize colors with Trimlight? If so, how?

Yes, from the color palette screen simply long press any color circle outside the gray line box and a window will pop up giving you the option to slide your finger through the color spectrum to a specific custom color or type in RGB codes for different color options. Then click OK and that custom color will be saved in that circle.

How do I or can I rename a saved pattern?

Yes, you can rename a saved pattern by simply connecting to the Trimlight Edge app, press enter, then click on the clock icon at bottom right. From there you will see a list of all current patterns. Swipe left on the pattern you would like to rename and you will see an option appear to rename or delete the pattern.

Do you have a setting for warm white?

Yes, we have a preset for Warm White on the custom color palette screen. Click on the color circle labeled WW which is the first circle on the second row.

Can I set up a daily timer and calendar event on the same day?

Yes you can, but we recommend not overlapping your daily timer with a calendar event. For example, you can create a calendar event for a holiday and set that to run from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Then you could set a daily timer to come on from 11:01 PM to midnight, or even 5AM. As long as the timers do not overlap they will work correctly.

How many patterns can I save in the Trimlight app?

You can save up to 30 patterns in the Trimlight app. Once you go over that, you will receive a message that you have exceeded your pattern limit. At that point simply click on the clock icon at bottom right. Front here you will see a list of all current patterns. Swipe left on patterns you would like to delete and you will see an option appear to rename or delete the pattern.

​How many colors can I show at once with Trimlight?

You can show up to 30 colors at a time and program up to 90 lights of each color. For example, you can program 90 Red, 15 Orange, 1 Purple, 5 White, etc. The key is to not program more than 90 per color and you can do up to 30 different colors in each pattern created.

Where does the controller box go?

Typically the Trimlight control box is mounted on an interior wall inside a garage or under a carport. The Trimlight system simply plugs into a regular outlet.

How much electricity do they use?

Trimlight uses exclusive LED technology which is extremely energy efficient. Each diode uses .6 watts of power which means most homes Trimlight systems use less energy than 1-2 light bulbs. Trimlight uses 1/10 the energy of incandescent lights and lasts 10 times longer.

Do diodes fade in the sun?

Typically, LED diodes with lenses can become faded or damaged due to constant sun exposure over time. However, Trimlight’s residential lighting has no lens or covering, just the direct LED shows out of the channel, which means Trimlight LEDs will not fade, get cloudy or become discolored over time like many other exterior LEDs. Furthermore, Trimlight residential LED’s face down and below the channel which further protects them from constant sun exposure.

Can I turn them on/off when away from home?

With Trimlights user friendly Edge app, you can program your lights wherever you have service. The calendar allows you to set up any lighting schedule you want so you don’t have to worry about it while you are away on business or vacation, but if you need to access your system remotely, no problem!
